Every job is different. These are the main areas of work — if yours is not listed, please get in touch to talk it through.
Water
General domestic plumbing, repairs and installations, including kitchen plumbing and hot-water systems.
Power
Domestic electrical work for safer, better-functioning rooms and outdoor spaces.
Comfort
Heating systems, boilers, radiators and hot-water work, with clear advice on the right approach for your home.
Bathrooms
Bathroom plumbing, installation and full refurbishment, managed with the care a finished room deserves.
Efficiency
Wet and electrical underfloor heating, alongside heat-pump installation, to make homes more comfortable and efficient.
Connected home
Heating you can actually control — room by room, rather than one thermostat deciding for the whole house. I do the plumbing and the wiring, so the pipework can be altered to make the zoning work properly instead of the controls being bolted onto whatever is already there.
Connected home
This does not have to mean a whole-house system. Individual switches, sockets and light fittings can be controlled from a phone in an ordinary house, wired in properly and left tidy. At the other end of the scale I wire and test centralised lighting control — every circuit run back to one panel — ready for a specialist to program.
Design
Where the light needs to be, how many circuits it takes and what each one should do — worked out on a plan before any cable goes in. A room with five or six lighting circuits is not more expensive to wire at first fix; it is very expensive to add afterwards.
Outside
Outdoor sockets, garden and pathway lighting, and power out to garden buildings — wired to the right protection and rating so it survives a British winter.
Products
The makes I use most. If you would rather have something different, just say.
Why one person, two trades
An extractor fan is an electrician’s job — zones, isolation, protection. Putting it directly above the shower instead of over by the door is a bathroom fitter’s judgement. Both, or the room still does not dry out.
Zoned heating is the same. Often you cannot fit the control you want without altering the plumbing first, especially where rooms are being separated onto their own circuits. If the plumber and the electrician are two different visits, that conversation tends not to happen.
I hold Gas Safe registration, NAPIT-certified Part P electrical, Part G unvented hot water and heat-pump qualifications. On most jobs that means one person plans it, one person does it, and nothing falls down the gap in between.
